Effective October 5, 2026 · The Last Lantern & Row 13 Radio

The game does not ask for your real name, email, phone number or precise location. It does not request your camera, microphone or contacts.

It does save game information on your browser and send some game records to our server. A random browser ID connects your progress; three-letter initials you choose can appear on public scoreboards.

What stays on your device

Browser storage keeps your control, sound and comfort settings; your random game ID; a saved run and resume reference; cached scores, cards and journal discoveries; your selected card goal; cards you have already viewed; and your latest escape replay. Radio stores your volume, chosen preset, last song and playback position, along with the small shuffled queue and recent track history needed to continue that broadcast. Menu atmosphere is part of your local comfort settings.

When a connection fails, game events, saves and feedback you already chose to send may wait locally and retry when connected. Opening the feedback form alone does not send a report.

Older versions could store an offline game package. The updated service worker removes those game-package caches when it activates, without removing saved progress. New game pages and protected assets require online admission and are not stored for offline reopening. The browser may cache public files such as radio artwork.

The game does not add advertising or analytics trackers. It uses browser local storage for progress and a secure, HTTP-only admission cookie to remember a successful haunt-code entry for up to 12 hours. This cookie is not an advertising tracker. Hosting services may use their own technical or security mechanisms.

What reaches the server

  • Game records: random browser and run IDs, maze setup, difficulty, starting and finishing times, catches, lanterns lit, split times, oil and flare statistics, rewards, cards, story progress, and saved game snapshots. These make shared totals, recovery and competition possible.
  • Optional competition: the three letters you submit, your time, and challenge or crew information. Public leaderboards show initials and times; people with a crew code or challenge link can view that challenge’s field and results. Use made-up initials if you prefer.
  • Optional feedback: your note, game version, screen and game state, basic browser family and screen dimensions. Problem reports can include a preview of the game canvas. You can remove that image before sending. It does not capture your camera, browser interface or other apps. Submitted reports go to a restricted review queue for the haunt team.

The random browser ID is not a real-name account. It is still an identifier that can connect multiple runs. It should not be treated as completely anonymous or as a secure account login. Avoid putting personal details in initials or feedback.

Technical delivery and abuse prevention

Our hosting and delivery services, including OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare, handle requests for the game and audio. Requests necessarily expose technical information such as an IP address and request headers to the service receiving them. The feedback endpoint stores a salted hash of the browser ID and a daily salted hash derived from the connection IP to limit spam; the feedback database does not store the raw IP.

Provider handling is described in the OpenAI Privacy Policy and Cloudflare Privacy Policy. This notice covers the game’s own implementation, not the separate policies of a social network or linked website.

Music and sharing

Row 13 Radio loads the selected audio track as it plays. It does not download the entire music library for offline listening. The browser may buffer or cache some audio. Streaming uses data; pausing stops playback, and closing the radio stops the sound. The Crew collection opens by default. When storage is available and you last listened to a Crew song, its remembered track and position are offered, paused until you press Play. Shared song links open the selected track. The saved radio choices stay on this browser; they are not a listening-history upload.

Score images, collector-card exports and radio song cards are created on your device. Song-card QR codes and links identify a track, not the listener. Opening a preview does not publish it. Choosing Share opens your device’s available sharing options; the app or service you select then handles the shared image, text or link. Creating a friend challenge also stores the challenge on our game server.

How long information remains

Local data stays until you clear it, the browser removes it, or the game replaces it. A completed run’s active server checkpoint is removed when the escape is recorded. Game history, scoreboards, earned cards, challenges and feedback currently have no fixed automatic deletion schedule.

Clearing this browser does not erase server records or public scores. It can remove the only local reference to your journal or unfinished run. There is no real-name account recovery or automatic transfer between devices, browsers, private tabs or different game domains.

Manage this browser’s data

Close other game and radio tabs first. These controls affect this site in this browser only. Downloaded share images in your Photos or Downloads are separate.

Remove the offline copy

Free the game’s downloaded offline package while keeping cards, settings and your saved run. New offline game packages are no longer downloaded; reopening requires an online admission check.

Start a new journal on this device

Erase local progress, the browser ID, preferences, replay, and unsent game events or feedback. Your old server records and public scores remain, but this browser will no longer have their original journal reference. This cannot be undone here.

Using your browser’s settings

Look for this site under your browser’s site data or website storage settings. Removing all site data also removes progress and the journal reference; clearing only cached files is different. In Chrome, site controls beside the address provide a route to site settings. On iPhone, Safari website data is managed in the system Settings app. Menu names vary by device and browser.

To reopen the game, reconnect and enter the haunt code if your admission has expired. Removing all site data also removes your admission cookie.

Questions or requests

Use Field menu → Help & info → Report a problem to send a privacy question or ask the haunt team about a record. Give only the information needed to explain your request, such as the initials and approximate date of a score. Do not send passwords or sensitive personal information. This is a review request, not an automatic server deletion tool.

This notice will be updated if the game’s data practices change. Check the effective date above.
